Vecina Apartment Villas Review - San Antonio

This is my review of the Vecina Apartments in the Stone Oak area of San Antonio, Texas. It's right next to Wilderness Oak Elementary.

In short, don't live here.

It's one of those apartments that look great in the pictures and they treat you well when you come check the place out but once you move in, things change. It went from a 5 star to a 3 star to a 0 star within a few months.

A lot of the negative reviews you'll read about Vecina Apartment are from people who either got their car towed or their guests' cars towed.

Parking Situation

They use a 3rd party company to enforce parking, Parqking. The way it works is you have to have your license plates registered. They go around at night and scan plates and if yours isn't in the system, it gets towed.

Guests can register a temporary one but the biggest thing is they have to park at the far end of the complex where building 8 is which can be a far walk if you live in one of the buildings up the hill. I can understand why they do this. If guests can just park anywhere, then residents might not be able to park near their building which would suck.

From a 5 Star Rating Down to a 3 Star Rating in Under 1 Month

I got my cars towed shortly after moving in as a resident but my story is a little bit different.

I moved from out of state, which they knew about, so had to change my plates shortly after moving here. I had registered for the Parqking thing 2 months prior when I signed the lease online. I didn't exactly know how the parking system worked at the time and had basically forgotten about Parqking completely by the time I moved in. I just remember signing up and reading that it's good for a whole year.

At move in, a Vecina Apartment staff went over some stuff, gave me the keys and took down my car make and model and even the color. I was going to take a pic of my license plates to fill in that section but was told they don't need it, and that was that. They knew I had moved from out of state and knew I'd eventually need to change my license but said absolutely nothing about changing the plate number on Parqking's website.

Had my plates changed (2 cars). A few days later, woke up and found out both of my cars were gone. I had to pay $400 including taking an Uber to the tow company.

It's technically my fault for not updating the plates on Parqking's website but they should've at least mentioned it to me. That knocked the rating from a 5 down to a 3. It would've taken them 5 seconds to mention it and save me $400.
